Why did you begin to make music??
Morten: I couldn’t stop it! I often get a melody in my head and then I just have to get it out! I have a passion for non-following rythm music and pop-rock and think that there might be more of it. That’s why I begin to make my own songs!
How do you know each other?
Morten: Steffen and I know each other from a previous band, where we played together (late august). After the band disintegrated, I met Günes and began in his new band. Then we were missing a new drummer, I contacted Steffen and then it began to be UpUpdown
Have you always played and loved music?
Morten: I started to viola when I was little (bass violin), Then the piano came, guitar and now bass. I love to play and write songs and I can’t stop!
Steffen: Yes, I have been hooked on music since I was little. When I was 11 years old, I started to get drum lessons at my school, and then I’ve just played since. As long as I remember, I’ve been crazy about music, and I love to play music, listen to music, talk about music, and go to concerts and so on.
Have you any advices for others who want to be musicians?
Morten: Jump into it! Everybody can learn how to make a power chord! It’s your own choice, how ”hard” the music you will play is going to be.. Write songs, if that’s what your heart is telling you, and do it, as long as it’s fun! Other ways it’s always fun to play covers of other musicians!Steffen: But first, you should play music if you think it’s funny, and you just can’t stop again. Not everyone is super good at it in the beginning, but it’s also fun, just to hang out with the friends and a little jam in a rehearsal. If you want to be serious with the music, you just have to know, that there is alot of hard work in it, and if you already don’t think that to playing music is the coolest thing in the world, it will quickly begin to be boring for you.
Who is your biggest idol?
Morten: I think there is alot of cool musicians around the world! Blink182 have been one of the biggest inspirations for me, and both Mark Hoppus and Tom Delonge have I always admired! I also think that Patrick Stump (fall out boy) and Forrest Kline (hellogoodbye) musically have something really cool to offer.
Steffen: There are a lot of people that I look up to, and I don’t know who my biggest Idol is. But I’ve always thought that Jared Leto is cool: singer, actor and model-looks.. It’s the tripple threat! At home I think Nik and Jay are doing well. It’s always great, when people are 100% inside what they believe, and just give it an extra effort with it.
What is your favorite movie?
Morten:”Back To the Future” with Michael J. Fox! I love movies from the 80’s, otherwise both adventure and comedy as a genre!
Steffen: It is difficult. I love to see a movie, and if I have to say my entire favorite here, it will take forever. But I saw recently”The Social Network” again and it was still the bomb. See it!
What is you favorite animal?
Morten: Cats!
Steffen: Haha, I have always thought that they are badass!
What is your absolutely favorite thing to do at the summer?
Morten: Be outside as long as possible and sleep the day away! Barbeque, beach, cycling, drink a cold beer in the sun!
Steffen: Everything that is happening outside, is cool when the weather is good.. The beach with the friends, or some barbeque, you’ll never go wrong with that. Once upon a time, I was skating a lot, and I’m still cruising a lot on the board sometimes, when the sun is shining bright. I wish it was summer all the time.
